Judicial Emergency Order Extended Through June 12, 2020

On May 4, 2020, Chief Justice Harold D. Melton of the Supreme Court of Georgia extended the Judicial Emergency Order, which was initially issued on March 13, 2020.

Under the extended Order, courts throughout the state will remain open in limited capacities through June 12, 2020, at 11:59 p.m.  The actual Order from the Chief Justice is set to be signed sometime this week.

While courts throughout the state have been limited in their function, courts have taken steps to conduct virtual hearings; teleconferences; and limited in-person hearings.  The newest Order from the Chief Justice will also include directives for courts to develop local guidelines to assist in the operation of courts during the Covid-19 pandemic.
